“Mind and Culture”: Rutgers / Siena Workshop in Siena
The Ph.D. Course in Cognitive Sciences of Siena University and the Rutgers University Center for Cognitive Sciences (RUCCS) organize the Joint Workshop Rutgers-Siena "Mind and Culture". The workshop will be held at the Certosa di Pontignano (Siena) on June 1-2, 2009 and will provide the opportunity to debate new issues and directions of research in the interdisciplinary field of cognitive sciences. Among the others, the workshop will host contributions by the cognitive philosopher Jerry Fodor, who laid the groundwork for the concept of modularity of mind and the language of thought hypothesis, and the psychologist Zenon Pylyshyn, who developed the Visual Indexing Theory, assuming a preconceptual mechanism responsible for individuating the visual properties encoded by cognitive processes.
The participation to the workshop is free.
